Open Gyms, Fall Sport Information, and New Sports Coming to RCS!

We hope you have had a chance to enjoy the great weather this summer! As we get closer to the start of school, I wanted to give an update about Ridgeview Athletics.

OPEN GYMS

Summer Open Gyms for volleyball and basketball have begun. This is a free, optional opportunity for 5-8th graders to learn key fundamentals. Basketball open gyms are on Mondays and Wednesdays from 9:00am-10:30am. Volleyball open gyms with Coach McNutt and Coach Correll are on Tuesdays from 8:00am-9:30am and Thursday from 4:00pm-5:30pm.

SEASON INFORMATION & NEW SPORTS

Girls' Volleyball begins on August 12 with our first practice and our first game on August 19. The team is open to 6th-8th graders. Your student will need to have an active physical performed by a physician completed before the first practice. Registration will be $95 and must be paid before the first game. From August 12-16, we will hold two practices per day from 8-9:30AM and 4-5:30PM. Players must attend at least seven practices to compete in the first game. Want to learn more? Attend our Informational Meeting for parents on August 12 at 5:30PM in the PAC.

Ridgeview students may participate in our joint-Boys Soccer team with Heritage Christian Academy. Players may register through Ridgeview ($100) and we will provide all information for your participation on their soccer team. The first practice will be on August 12, with the first game on August 26.

Cross Country is open to 5th-8th graders and will meet on September 4 at 3:15pm in the Outdoor Classroom for an informational meeting. Coach Trosper will go over information about the season including practice structure and meet schedule. The fee will be $65 for 6th-8th graders and $30 for 5th graders.

This year we will be introducing two new sports at Ridgeview. This fall we are partnering with the Fort Collins Rowing Association and fielding an Upper School Rowing Team (9th-12th Grade). This spring we will be offering a Sevens Rugby club for 6th-8th graders and a separate team for our upper school, 9th-12th graders.

To start the year, we will having a booth at the Back to School Night on August 28. We will have information about the upcoming school year, including schedules and volunteer opportunities.

We are looking to push our athletic department further and open opportunities to grow our students through sports! Keep an eye out for updates on our athletic website. As always, if you have any questions or concerns please feel free to reach out to us.

Thank you and Go Hoplites!
