Miss Elliott was born in Tennessee; however, prior to moving here, she spent the past 20 years in Texas. She is now loving the seasons and outdoors Fort Collins has to offer. Growing up, she enjoyed her family’s cabin at the base of Pikes Peak and has always loved Colorado! She attended most of elementary, middle school, and high school in Flower Mound, TX. After high school, she attended the University of North Texas and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. Besides general education, she is certified in Special Education and working with English language learners. For five years, she taught kindergarten in Texas public schools. Moving to Colorado, she was eager to experience a school of choice and a classical approach to education. Outside of school she enjoys playing soccer, skiing, hanging with her dogs, hiking, paddle boarding, relaxing with a nice candle, exploring cities and towns, and reading.
What kind of reading do you most enjoy doing?
I enjoy lots of genres. I like mystery, dystopian, biographies, and a lot of fiction. I also love reading news articles and some magazines. In the classroom my absolute favorite has to be the Elephant and Piggie series.
What are the small essentials that make life more comfortable?
I believe family, good food, friends, and free time really make life great.
What are your favorite snacks?
Some of my favorite snacks are croissants (if that's a snack), fruit, spicy trail mix, and hummus.
What do you do to unwind?
I unwind by relaxing at home, taking my dogs out to the trails or park, and watching documentaries or good shows.
How could a parent volunteer help you most?
Parents are always welcome to help with small groups, skill practice with students, project preparation, and different events or things that go on throughout the year. I am looking forward to sharing our classroom.
