SCRIP

Scrip is simply another word for gift cards and gift certificates, the kind you can purchase at most national retailers and use like cash. Our school buys them at a discount (from 3-21%) from local grocery stores and Great Lakes Scrip Center, a national gift card/certificate clearing house for non-profit organizations. When you purchase the gift cards and certificates at their face value from Ridgeview, the school keeps the discount as a profit.

+ Program Information

Why does my family want to participate in the Gift Card Rewards Program?

Families that participate in the program will receive 80% of the profit the school earns from their Gift Card Rewards purchases as a family credit. This credit can be used each year to pay for school fees, sports/clubs fees, yearbooks, Veritas, Madrigals, Summer Academy or can be accumulated from year to year to help pay for the 6th grade EcoWeek trip and any High School trips that may be planned.

How do I get started?

Go to www.shopwithscrip.com and set up your account. While there, you can check out the hundreds of participating vendors and set up Presto Pay as your payment preference if you wish. You can place your order online or you can drop by Ridgeview during on-hand sales and buy cards from select vendors including most grocery and home improvement stores. On-hand sales are currently Monday and Friday mornings from 7:30 – 8:00. We will be adding more times, including afternoons, as we get volunteers.

If you have questions about the Scrip Program and/or would like to volunteer, please contact our Scrip Coordinator.

+ Guidelines for SCRIP Program

  1. Participation in the Scrip Program is voluntary.

  2. The Scrip Program is being offered to help families offset the cost of the 6th grade EcoWeek, school fees, events, Year Book and other school program costs. Contact the Scrip Program coordinator at scrip@ridgeviewclassical.com with questions.

  3. The RCS Scrip Program uses the services of a certificate broker, Great Lakes Scrip Center (GLSC). GLSC purchases gift certificates and gift cards in large quantities at a discount from major food and retail chains. As a school organization we are able to buy our non-grocery certificates/cards from GLSC at a discount, which we sell to you at face value, thereby making a profit. The discount ranges from 1.5 to 18 percent of the certificate value. Discount percentages and participating retailers are subject to change without notice. Scrip purchases are non-tax deductible because you receive dollar-for-dollar value.

  4. 80% of the profit will become a credit for school families to be used for the above-mentioned school-related expenses. The remaining 20% will be used to cover the program’s expenses and go to Ridgeview Classical Schools' general fundraising account. SCRIP CREDIT HAS NO CASH VALUE. Any credit remaining when a family no longer has an enrolled RCS student will revert to the RCS general fundraising account.

  5. Every family must submit a completed and signed enrollment form prior to participation in the Scrip Program. Each family will be assigned a unique customer ID number after their first order has been placed. This number must appear on all subsequent orders and payment checks to ensure credits are accurately recorded. Orders will not be accepted from families that are not enrolled.

  6. During the school year, Scrip will normally be ordered on Monday and picked up on Thursday afternoon or Friday. This schedule allows you to check the Sunday ads and plan your shopping. When a school holiday falls on Monday or Friday, an altered order and pickup schedule will be published in the weekly newsletter. Please watch for this and plan accordingly. There will be no scrip orders the weeks of Thanksgiving Break, Christmas Break, Spring Break and Easter Break. If you are unable to pick up your order on the scheduled day, contact the Scrip coordinator to make other arrangements. If we have the necessary volunteers, we will have a weekly order in the summer. The summer schedule will be announced in the spring.

  7. Put your completed Scrip order forms and payment in an envelope with your name and family number written on it. Orders can be left at the front desk or with Scrip volunteers at any time during the week. Orders may also be placed through the GLSC website, www.shopwithscrip.com. All orders turned in or placed through the website by 8:00am on Monday will be included in that week’s order. NO LATE ORDERS WILL BE ACCEPTED. Once the weekly order has been submitted on Monday morning, we are unable to add to it or subtract from it. Late orders will be processed with the next order. Payment must be included with your order. Checks should be made payable to RCS. Please write “Scrip” and your family number on the memo line of your check.

  8. Filled orders will generally be available for pickup on Fridays between 7:15am to 8:00am and 2:15pm to 3:15pm (OR as announced in the weekly notes due to volunteer availability).

Certificates/cards will only be given to the registered Scrip participant unless a signed Pick-up Waiver has been turned in to the Scrip committee. In this case, only those listed on the release may pick up the gift cards.

Gift cards are just like cash. Once your order is picked up, either by you or by those you have named on your signed Pick-up Waiver, neither Ridgeview Classical Schools nor the Scrip Committee is responsible for lost, stolen, or misplaced certificates.

When you pick up your gift cards, please verify the accuracy of your order. Your signature on the order form indicates you have received your order in its entirety. In the unlikely event you should find a discrepancy in your Scrip order, please contact the Program Coordinator immediately.

If you are unable to pick up your order on the scheduled day, please contact the Scrip Coordinator at scrip@ridgeviewclassical.com to make other arrangements.

GIFT CARDS ARE NOT RETURNABLE.

Occasionally, GLSC may temporarily run out of a particular retailer’s gift cards. When that happens, they will place the item on backorder and, when it is available, ship it with our next order. Backordered gift cards will be indicated on your order form and will be given to you when received - usually the next pickup day.

If participation in the program is sufficient and we have volunteer help, we will increase Scrip pickup days and have an inventory of popular gift cards on hand so spur-of-the-moment purchases can be made.

  1. Family or friends may help your family earn credit by ordering certificates through you. If you collect orders and payment from your family and friends, compile all orders and submit one order form and write one check to cover the entire order. Third party checks and order forms from non-RCS families will not be accepted. You will receive the entire order to distribute to your friends and family.

  2. A statement of your Scrip Rewards total will be distributed once each semester. However you may request your total via email to scrip@ridgeviewclassical.com at any time.

  3. Some Gift Certificates/Cards have a non-use administrative fee that is deducted from the balance of the card if not used over a certain period of time. Others may expire if not used within 1-2 years. To view a copy of the vendor guidelines visit the Great Lakes Scrip website at www.glscrip.com and click on retailers, then search for the store (they are listed in alphabetical order). A copy of GLSC’s participation retailers, available denominations, discounts and usage guidelines are available upon request. King Soopers cards are ordered locally and are not listed on GLSC's web site.

  4. Checks returned because of non-sufficient funds (NSF), will be charged a $20 fee payable to Ridgeview Classical Schools. After one NSF check is tendered, Scrip ordering privileges will be limited to money orders only.

  5. Requests for allocations of Scrip funds must be made using the designated lavender Allocation Forms available at the front office. Requests made using any other format will not be accepted. Requests must be approved before funds will be pulled from your account to cover the school-related expense(s). After your account has been verified and your request approved, the expense will be covered using funds from your account. In the case of school concerts, plays/musicals, dances and recitals, an Allocation Form must be submitted at least five (5) business days before the event. If the request is approved, a notice will be placed in the cash box stating that your family is approved for admission to event. No Allocation Forms will be accepted at the door to the event.
